About The Site Set in the heart of rural Aberdeenshire, this campsite is a tent-campers retreat, nestled in the tranquil Ythan Valley, surrounded by rolling farm land and beautifully ‘large’ skies. Guaranteed a warm welcome by the family owners, this small site limits the numbers of pitches to ensure that a quiet relaxing atmosphere is maintained. Simple tasty breakfasts can be delivered to your tent, or served refectory-style in the old coach house or under the canopy in the sheltered courtyard. You can order home-made organic bread to be warm and ready for you in the morning, and free range eggs are available from the family’s own happy, healthy hens & ducks! Maintaining a peaceful environment for relaxation is paramount, so the number of people and number of pitches are limited. Please ensure you phone in advance, to ensure there is a pitch available. Facilities On Site Shower and toilet facilities are available indoors for your comfort. Small items can be refrigerated, and ice packs can be put in the freezer. You may use the washing line too, just ask Pitches Pitches are unmarked level and on grass and are available for tents only. Alternatively check out "The Lodge" our self-catering log cabin in a peaceful & secluded meadow, tucked under the Scots pines
Facilities Nearby And Places Of Interest Located in the heart of Aberdeenshire, The Ythan Valley Campsite is close to the National Cycle Route, and just 30 minutes drive north of Aberdeen. It serves as an ideal base to explore both Aberdeenshire's famous Castle Country and Coastal Trail, and is just a few miles from the National Trust properties of Haddo House and Fyvie Castle. Also nearby is the family run Glen Garioch Whisky Distillery in Old Meldrum, with guided tours and a Visitor Centre. This campsite is well placed for first class fishing, golf, walking and wildlife watching, both inland and coastal. The owners can supply advice & information on all local tourist attractions, as well as regularly updated What's On information. From National Trust properties & castles, to quaint wee fishing villages, challenging golf courses, excellent walks & amazing sunsets - welcome to Scotland's best kept secret ! Site Fees - 2010

Directions To Site 4 miles from Ellon & Methlick, and 20 miles from Aberdeen & Peterhead, the village of Ythanbank is on the B9005 where the road crosses the River Ythan. Once in the village follow the signposts for Schivas. Immediately after you turn into the Schivas road, driving away from the main body of the village, the 2nd entrance on your right is Smithfield - home of the campsite & log cabin. A long tarmac drive leads you to the house where you book in. We can send you detailed directions from which ever direction you may be travelling.
